Dear Audience,
Thanks to you, the 59th edition of the Nohant Chopin Festival, “Chopin the European,” was a resounding success! Your numerous and loyal attendance at the Domaine de George Sand in Nohant allowed us to share profound moments of musical emotion with the artists in this place of unparalleled inspiration.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to you, as well as to our patrons, supporters, and partners!
We eagerly await 2026!
“Chopin the European” gives way to the 2026 season, which will be distinguished by two major events: the 60th anniversary of the Festival and the 150th anniversary of George Sand’s death.
Yves Henry, President of the Festival, Sylviane Plantelin, Vice-President, and Jean-Yves Clément, Artistic and Literary Advisor, along with the teams and volunteers, invite you to the Salle Cortot in Paris on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, for the launch concert of the 60th edition, which will take place from June 6 to July 22 at the Domaine de George Sand in Nohant.
Then, from August 15 to 23, an unprecedented event will crown this exceptional season: the first International Chopin Pleyel Competition in Nohant. All rounds of this competition, held on modern pianos at the Domaine de George Sand, will be open to the public. This event is jointly organized by Pianos Pleyel, the Centre des monuments nationaux, and the Nohant Chopin Festival.
The Festival
The 2025 season of the Nohant Chopin Festival concluded in a blaze of glory, leaving a lasting impression with its exceptionally rich program. We had the privilege of applauding piano masters such as Arcadi Volodos, Rafal Blechacz, Lucas Debargue, Barry Douglas, Michel Dalberto, Dang Thai Son, and Philippe Bianconi. The season was highlighted by moments of grace with Vahan Mardirossian, Yves Henry and the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, the duo of Aurélien Pascal and Sélim Mazari, the Trio Pantoum, Martin Kasik and the Ensemble Il Pavone, as well as the talented Joseph Moog, Szymon Nehring, Dmitry Ablogin, and the young prodigy Sophia Liu. The festival also fostered intellectual reflection with talks by Bruno Monsaingeon, Jean-Yves Patte, Jean-Jacques Eigeldinger, and Karol Beffa, while showcasing the next generation of artists, including Mathis Cathignol, Jan Jakub Zielinski, Rodolphe Menguy, and Vincent Ong.
Music radiated throughout the Berry region all summer long thanks to the “Hors les murs” (Beyond the Walls) program, which brought young talents like Guillaume Bénoliel, Diana Cooper, Gabriel Cassagnes, Miki Yamagata, and Nao Takahashi to enchanting heritage sites.

Jointly established by the Centre des monuments nationaux, the Nohant Chopin Festival, and Pianos Pleyel, this new international competition dedicated to Chopin will be held from August 15 to 23, 2026, in Nohant at the Domaine de George Sand. This great figure, the 150th anniversary of whose death will be commemorated in 2026, knew how to create the ideal conditions in her home for Frédéric Chopin to find the inspiration, desire, and time to compose.
