Il a été Commissaire Général de l’Année Liszt en France (2011). \nIl est vice-président du Passeur Éditeur\, maison d’édition généraliste qu’il a co-créée en 2012. \nIl est l’auteur de trois ouvrages parus chez Actes Sud : Liszt ou la dispersion magnifique (2011)\, Scriabine ou l’ivresse des sphères (2015)\, Glenn Gould ou le piano de l’esprit (2016). Il a publié également Les deux âmes de Frédéric Chopin (Plon/Passeur (poche))\, un vaste poème\, Le Chant de toi (cherche midi) et un recueil d’aphorismes\, De l’aube à midi (cherche midi/Passeur). Est paru en 2020 Le Retour de Majorque\, Journal de Frédéric Chopin (Pierre-Guillaume de Roux/Passeur (poche))\, et en 2021 Chopin et Liszt\, la magnificence des contraires (Premières Loges). \nCritique musical (Diapason\, France Musique)\, J.-Y. Clément est le récitant de ses propres textes sur la musique\, Variations Chopin (aphorismes sur les 24 Préludes de Chopin)\, Nuits de l’âme (21 poèmes sur les 21 Nocturnes de Frédéric Chopin)\, Variations Glenn Gould\, Les Sept dernières paroles du Christ de Haydn\, Via Crucis de Liszt\, etc. \nJ.-Y.
